Albert Einstein most probably first comes to mind if we talk about IQs. Though he never took an IQ test, he is estimated to have an IQ of 160. 100 is the average IQ and 140 is already considered genius.

But further readings has introduced us to other individuals with higher IQ than Einstein. Take a look at the following individuals:


1. Judit Polgar. IQ Level-170

In 1991, Polgar achieved the title Grandmaster at 15, the youngest title holder at that time. Considered the strongest female player of all time, she was the only woman  in the FIDE's top 100 players. She retired in August 2014 and was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Saint Stephen of Hungary the succeeding year. 

2. Garry Kasparov. IQ Level-190

Kasparov is also a chess grandmaster and many consider him as  the "greatest chess player of all time." He is also a writer and a political activist. His rankings in chess tournaments made him the the youngest undisputed World Chess Champion in 1985 at age 22.

He retired form professional chess in 2005 and devoted his time to politics. At present, he serves as the chairman for the Human Rights Foundation.

3. Rick Rosner. IQ Level- 192-198

Prior to his career on television, he once admitted that he has worked as a stripper, a roller-skater, a bouncer, a waiter, and a nude model. At 26, he returned to high school and experienced "desk-chair combinations."


4. Christopher Michael Langan. IQ Level-195

 Described as "the smartest man in America," Langan developed the "Cognitve-Theoretic Model of the Universe." Langan attended Montana State University. Plagued with financial concerns, he later dropped out from the University believing he could teach his professors more than they could teach him.


5. Evangelous Katsioulis. IQ Level-198

Born in 1976, Katsioulis is a medical doctor and also holds degrees in philosophy, medical research, psychiatry, and psychotherapy. He  has won numerous awards in various contests and has been given intelligence distinctions.

His website shows that he founded 11 foundations and served as consultant psychiatrist and psychotherapist in 3 medical institutions and as a private practitioner in Greece.



6. Kim Ung-yong. IQ Level-210

 Kim's parents were both educators. His father was a physics professor and his mother was a medical professor. At age one, he learned both the Korean alphabet and 1,000 Chinese characters. At age three, he was able to solve calculus problems and publish best-selling books. By age five, he could speak Korean, English, French, German, and Japanese.

Kim has worked for NASA for 10 years and later went back to South Korea to complete his studies. He enrolled in Chungbuk National University where he studied civil engineering and later earned his PhD.  


7. Christopher Hirata. IQ Level-225

 Also a child prodigy, he won the gold medal at the 1996 International Physics Olympiad at age 13. At 16, he made a research for NASA  on the colonization of Mars and later received his PhD from Princeton University. He now serves a a full professor at the Ohio State University.



8. William James Sidis. IQ Level-250-300

 Also a child prodigy, William entered  Harvard University at 11, the youngest to enter the University. He was also conversant in about 25 languages and earned Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, at age 16.

He was assigned for a teaching job in Texas but left the academe and soon concentrated in politics. He died from cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 46.
